Description
The summerhouse at Drygrange House, built around 1904, is a small, square-plan structure with a pantile roof, located south of the terraced garden. It features notable early fragments from various sites, including roughly squared pink sandstone rubble mixed with moulded stone fragments, primarily from Melrose Abbey, with some possibly of Roman origin, used as decorative elements. The entrance has a double opening with wrought-iron gates, which are now covered by later timber doors, and there is a niche in the center.
Inside, the summerhouse is partially lined with oak and contains additional late medieval and 17th century fragments mounted on the rear timber-lined wall. These include a Gothic niche, a vaulting corbel, and a panel displaying the initials VL.
