Description
Newton House, located on Tweedside Road in Newton St Boswells, is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay terraced house. It features a corniced doorway and a moulded eaves cornice. The building is constructed of red sandstone rubble with pink dressings and has decorative cast-iron balconies. There are also a pair of canted dormers on the roof.

The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and has stone skews on the east side. The house also includes cast-iron rainwater goods.
Inside, the principal drawing room features a basket-arched recess on the rear elevation and a classical fireplace with a garlanded frieze. There is a curving stair with a timber handrail.
The boundary wall surrounding the property is made of rubble with ashlar coping and includes brick piers topped with pyramidal caps, as well as a cast-iron gate.
