Description

West Flemington Farm Steading is an 18th-century farm complex with later additions and alterations. It consists of various single-storey and single-storey with attic buildings, primarily arranged in rectangular plans, with a curved range to the north that encloses a near triangular courtyard. There are smaller blocks to the south, some of which have been partially demolished, along with an additional courtyard.

The exterior is constructed from harl-pointed rubble sandstone with some squared and tooled rubble dressings. Features include rubble quoins, long and short surrounds to openings, and some later brick additions.

On the west range, the outer elevation features a four-bay block on the left with a ramped walkway leading to an upper floor. This includes a two-leaf, boarded timber door offset to the left of center, a large opening to the outer left, and two small windows in the remaining bays to the right. There is a former lean-to addition, which is partially demolished, offset to the right. To the right is a seven-bay range with large, boarded timber doors centered at the ground level, a bipartite window, and boarded timber doors to the left, along with windows on the ground and upper floors to the right.

The north side elevation has three bays, with a stone stair leading to a boarded timber door in the right bay, a single window at ground level to the left, and a single window centered on the upper floor. The inner elevation on the east side features a large, boarded timber door offset to the right of center and is irregularly fenestrated to the left. The south side elevation has a stone stair leading to a boarded timber door centered on the upper floor.

The northeast range has a curved, predominantly blind outer elevation, while the south inner elevation is irregularly fenestrated. The inner courtyard contains an implement shed to the southeast. The southeast range has a rectangular-plan outer elevation that is blind, and the west inner elevation is also irregularly fenestrated, featuring various additions to the front, including a rubble-coped wall offset to the right of center, a single-storey block on the left, and courtyards and implement sheds to the left. The south side elevation is blind.

Most glazing is missing, with some fixed-pane windows and various rooflights present. The roofs are a mix of pantiles and slate, with some areas missing, and feature stone-coped skews. The interiors were not seen in 1999.
