Description
The railway viaduct, built around 1849 for the North British Railway, features five arches that cross the River Tweed from east to west. It is constructed from squared sandstone rubble, with ashlar voussoirs forming the segmental arches. The viaduct has rusticated sandstone piers and a sandstone parapet topped with sandstone ashlar copes. Additionally, it includes boat-shaped cutwaters on both the upstream and downstream sides.
