Description
3 Winchester Row in Kelso is a mid-19th century terrace of unified design, consisting of three two-storey houses with advanced terminal blocks, of which only the easternmost, No 6, remains. Nos 3, 4, and 5 are two bays wide, constructed of coursed, squared rubble with polished surrounds for the windows and doors. They are separated by giant order pilaster strips that are rusticated at the ground floor. The wallhead cornice is only preserved at No 4, which features two later platform-roofed attic dormers. No 5 has a single piend-roofed dormer. No 6 is set forward and includes a dummy window in the west gable, along with a three-bay front that has a central door, gabled with brick stacks, and the glazing has been renewed.
