Description
11 Foulden Holdings is a single-storey building dated 1859, featuring later additions and alterations. It has a symmetrical, rectangular plan with five bays, which includes two cottages of two and a half bays each, and lean-to additions at the rear. The exterior is constructed from tooled, predominantly pink sandstone rubble, with tooled cream sandstone quoins and cream brick dressings, some of which are glazed. The front has corbelled eaves with a chevron detail on the frieze and billeted eaves on the gable ends. The openings are surrounded by brick with chamfered edges, and there are chamfered sandstone cills. The rear additions are harled.
On the west elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a segmental-arched window in the center, flanked by timber panelled doors. Segmental-arched windows are located on the outer right (No 11) and left (No 12). The south elevation of No 11 features a gable end with a round-arched attic light in the gablehead, and a quoin marked with '1859' to the left. There is a single window in the lean-to addition that projects to the outer right. The east elevation has single windows on either side of the center, with lean-to additions projecting to the outer left (No 11) and right (No 12). The north elevation of No 12 mirrors the south, with a round-arched attic light centered in the gablehead and a single window in the lean-to addition to the outer left.
Most windows are boarded up. The roof is covered in grey slate with fishscale banding at the front and plain banding at the rear, featuring stone-coped skews and beak skewputts. There are corniced apex and wallhead stacks with circular cans, while the rear additions have corrugated-iron roofs. The interiors were not seen in 1999.
