Moorburn, Old Auchengreich Road, Johnstone

Moorburn is a 1935, two-storey and attic plain Scottish Arts and Crafts villa located on Old Auchengreich Road in Johnstone. The building features thick white painted harl with reconstituted stone dressings, tall stacks, and crowstepped gables, along with boarded oak doors. The entrance front has five bays, with three bays to the left and an advanced two-bay gable to the right that includes a projecting pentis-roofed stone tripartite window at ground level. There is also a single-storey porch in the re-entrant angle. The six-bay rear elevation has an advanced two-bay gable to the right, which is obscured by a piend-roofed service range at ground level. Stair windows are located at the centre, with a canted timber mullion and transomed window to the left, adjacent to the back door. A single-storey M-roofed garage with partly glazed doors is also present.

The villa features timber sash and case windows, with leaded upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes. The roof is covered in grey slates, with coped crowsteps and harled stacks.

Inside, there is a fine period interior with many surviving fixtures and fittings throughout all rooms.

Additionally, there is a hexagonal pavilion-roofed timber summerhouse with windows and glazed doors on the front three sides.

The property is enclosed by stepped harled and coped boundary walls along the road, featuring a splayed entrance, round gatepiers with conical coping, and shaped timber gates.
