1 Woodside Cottages, Main Street, Langbank

2 Woodside Cottages, located on Main Street in Langbank, is a building attributed to architect Alexander Thomson and was constructed around 1852. This is a two-storey terrace of four cottages designed in a cottage style, featuring three-light pointed windows set in deep-bracketted gable heads, reminiscent of Seymour Lodge. The cottages are symmetrically arranged in pairs of two, with original doors that include margined glazing and paired, latticed stair lights. Each cottage has two bays on the ground floor, although the two houses nearest the left (east) have unsympathetic replacement windows on the ground floor, while the upper floor consists of a single bay. The structure is built of whin rubble with contrasting red ashlar detailing and has two of its three chimney stacks rebuilt in brick above the haunches. The roofs are slate, and there is a single-storey range that adjoins each gable. The property features plain ashlar gatepiers and an ashlar-coped rubble wall that borders the roadway.
