Description
Inchinnan Bridge, located on Greenock Road in Renfrew, is a significant structure built in 1811. It features three large segmental arches and two smaller side arches, which are adorned with niches framed by attached fluted Graeco-Roman Doric columns. The bridge is constructed from bull-faced masonry with ashlar parapets. Its design is similar to the nearby White Cart Bridge in Renfrew, and both bridges were completed in 1812 at a cost of $17,000. The engineer for the project was Robertson Buchanan, and the contractor was Kenneth Mathieson, as noted in the privately published memoir of Thomas Binnie from Glasgow.
