Description

The farmsteading and horse-mill at Elcho date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, with later additions. It forms three sides of a quadrangle, which was covered in 1966. The structure is built from whin rubble with sandstone dressings, featuring segmentally arched cart sheds along the eastern facade. The northern wall includes an interesting round byre and a later horse-mill. An underground water wheel, measuring over 20 feet in diameter, was filled in 1966.
