Description
Stanley Mills North Range and East Lodge is a range of ancillary buildings dating from around 1823 to 1855. The structures are primarily built from rubble, with an ashlar lodge and a 20th-century concrete infill block. There is a lade located at the rear.
From the west, there is a single-storey stable and coach-house with four bays, which has a sharp angle and a rear that curves to follow the line of the lade. Adjacent is a two-storey block with fifteen bays, which includes an office on the left accessed by steps and features a clock. The four westernmost bays of this block are chamfered at the rear to accommodate the lade. There is also a single-storey, eight-bay concrete range from around 1920, which spans a bridge leading to the East Mill, as well as a single-storey, ten-bay range.
The Gothick lodge measures three by three bays and has a central pointed arched door flanked by hood-moulded lights. The east elevation features three bays with Y-traceried, hood-moulded windows, while the center bay is blind.
The roofs are slate, with a piended design on the single-storey blocks and gabled, altered to tiles on the two-storey block around 1987. The windows are sash and case, with 42 panes, though some have been altered. The lodge features large Gothic traceried panes.
Inside the principal two-storey block, there are single rows of cast-iron columns and wooden floors.
