Description

Torwood House, built around 1850, is a notable single-storey and attic mansion in the Jacobethan style designed by William Burn. The west front is symmetrical, featuring two windows and a central gable with a canted bay, while the other sides are asymmetrical. There is an open entrance porch on the south side and a later conservatory at the southwest gable. The house is constructed from local rubble with red sandstone dressings, and it has curvilinear gables and gablets. The windows have lying panes, and the roof is slated with octagonal shafted chimneys.
