Description
3 Murthly Terrace in Birnam is a baronial-style terrace block built in 1862 and 1865. It is a long, two-storey building with an attic, stepped to follow the slope of the land. The terrace features 24 windows and includes a cantilevered canted bay on the first floor, which is corbelled to a square shape and topped with shaped gables on the second floor at the 6th, 10th, and 19th windows. There are corbelled circular angle turrets at both ends of the building. The ground floor is made of ashlar stone with arched openings, while the upper floors are constructed from snecked local rubble with ashlar dressings and architraves at number 3. The building also has gabled masonry dormers and slated roofs.
