Description

West March House and Priest's Walk Tunnel, located on Turretbank Road in Crieff, is a former manse that was reworked in 1868 from an earlier building. It is a single and two-storey structure with three bays, constructed from squared and snecked rubble featuring tabbed raised ashlar margins and chamfered and stop-chamfered arrises.

The east elevation showcases a broad advanced gable on the left side, which includes a window on each floor and a relief-carved datestone in the gablehead. There is a small gabled porch with a timber door and a plate glass fanlight, angled to the northeast in the re-entrant to the centre, along with a window above and an additional window on each floor to the right.

The south elevation features a gable that extends nearly the full width of the elevation, stopping short of the right bay. It has a window on each floor to the left and a diamond panel in the gablehead, with further windows on each floor at the outer right. A single-storey bay on the outer left has a pedimented window that breaks the eaves at the centre and a narrow window to the right.

On the north elevation, there is a gabled bay with windows positioned to the right at ground level, to the left at the first floor, and a blind arrowslit in the gablehead. There is also a further window in a set-back single-storey bay to the outer right.

The west (rear) elevation presents a variety of elements, creating an asymmetrical appearance that includes two lower projecting pitch-roofed wings. The windows are timber sash and case, featuring 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks, overhanging eaves, and plain bargeboarding.

To the north, the Priest's Walk features a segmental-headed boarded timber door leading to the northeast boundary, which provides access to a vaulted cellar that was formerly the entrance to the Priest's Walk.
