Description
Dalliotfield is a fine, mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay Classical former Free Church manse, which has been altered in the early 20th century. It features a T-plan layout and a piend roof, retaining its lying-pane glazing and a prominent entrance bay with a block-pedimented doorpiece and a simple keystoned oval plaque in the tympanum. The exterior is constructed from whitewashed squared and snecked rubble, accented with droved ashlar quoins, quoin strips, raised margins, and a base course.
The principal elevation faces southeast and includes an advanced central bay with a two-leaf part-glazed timber door topped by a decorative fanlight. Above this, there is a single window at the first floor and the plaque in the pediment. The flanking bays have regular fenestration, with first-floor windows positioned close to the eaves.
On the southwest garden elevation, there is a later addition of a bowed single-storey bay that projects at the outer right, featuring a round-headed niche with a carved and moulded floreate swag.
The windows throughout the building have 8- and 12-pane glazing patterns, with lying-pane glazing in the principal block except for the first-floor east window, all set in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates, and broad coped ashlar ridge stacks are present.
Inside, the manse features some moulded plasterwork cornicing, well-crafted panelled timber shutters and doors with architraves, and a curved staircase with simple ironwork balusters.
