Description
Ochtertyre House is a Georgian building constructed between 1784 and 1790. It features a rectangular main block that has two storeys, a basement, and an attic on the north side, while the south side has a full three storeys and an attic.
The south front is made of whin ashlar and includes a pedimented centre with a two-storey bow and a Venetian window above. There is a cast iron verandah that supports a balcony at the first floor. The north front also has whin ashlar with pinnings, showcasing a three-window pedimented centre made of ashlar, along with a pedimented porch supported by attached Roman Doric columns. The building has single-storey wings that feature Venetian windows.
Inside, the house boasts a notable hall staircase topped with a fine dome of Adam type, as well as several impressive chimney pieces.
