Description
HMP Perth Visitor Centre was built between 1810 and 1812 as part of Robert Reid's prisoner of war scheme, serving as 'guardhouses'. This pair of single-storey buildings each features nine bays, with slightly advanced end bays and regularly spaced round-arched full-height niches alongside square-headed window openings. They are positioned on either side of the entrance to HMP Perth. Constructed from squared and coursed whinstone, the buildings have cream ashlar dressings and quoins, overhanging bracketed eaves, and slate piended roofs.
