Description
Ashintully House is a 3-storey L-plan building dated 1583. It is constructed of rubble and features an armorial panel framed in balusters above the door, with the inscription 'THE LORD DEFEND THIS HOVS.' There is a bartizan at the wallhead, which has crowsteps, and this, along with the bartizan, was renewed in 1831, as indicated by the date. The original chimneys have been replaced with new ones of an octagonal pattern. An angle turret is located at the northeast angle, featuring corbelling that is embedded in later additions. There is a 4-window addition from the early 19th century that incorporates older work, built up around a pend arch. A long gallery runs along the north side of the house, which has a ribbed plaster barrel vault, likely added in 1831.
