Description

Newlands House is a large classical villa built around 1810. It is three stories tall, with two stories and a basement on the east side. The exterior is finished in painted rubble. The east entrance features a porch supported by Doric columns with a pediment. The west river front has three windows and is characterized by a giant Ionic order, with coupled columns in the central bay and pilasters at the ends. There is a raised and stepped blocking course at the central feature, and the roof is hipped and slated.
