Description

2 Stanley Park, North Biggar Road, Airdrie, is a Regency villa built around 1810. It is a single-storey, three-bay structure, with No 2 serving as a pavilion wing. The building has a symmetrical, rectangular plan and features a hipped roof. The central entrance is highlighted by an advanced pedimented portico supported by paired Doric columns. The exterior is finished with harled, squared, and tooled sandstone courses, and includes a base course and a projecting eaves course cornice.

On the south elevation, there is regular fenestration, stone steps leading to the central portico, a timber-panelled door, and a fanlight above the door. The north elevation was not visible in 2001, while both the east and west side elevations are blind, with the pavilion wing located on the left side. The windows are metal-framed plate glass sash and case types, and the roof is covered with grey slates and lead flashing. Coped wallhead stacks are present on the sides. The interior was not seen in 2001.

The pavilion wing, No 2, is a harled single-storey structure with a hipped roof and later additions, also featuring grey slates and lead flashing.

The gatepiers consist of a coped rubble wall with square-plan piers that have a plinth, an entablature with a projecting cornice, and coped caps. The boundary wall and gatepiers are communally owned by Stanley Park Nos 1 to 5.
