Description

The Coatbridge Cross Railway Bridge, built between 1870 and 1872, is a wrought iron parallel lattice truss railway bridge. It features flat lattice members adorned with decorative bosses over the rivets and has a wrought iron deck. The bridge is supported by ashlar sandstone abutments and piers that include long and short quoins.

In the north section, which spans over West Canal Street, there are wrought iron parallel plate girders complemented by cast iron baluster panels that are decorated with ovals and circles.
