Free Church Of Scotland, Bennecarrigan, Arran

The Free Church of Scotland in Bennecarrigan, Arran, is a simple Gothic church built in the late 19th century. It has a rectangular plan and is constructed of random rubble sandstone with red ashlar dressings, topped with a grey slate roof. The church features buttresses, a moulded cill course on the west gable, a wallhead course, and ashlar-coped skews with gablet skewblocks. A corbelled pointed-arch bellcote is located on the west gable, and there are single lancet windows with leaded glazing, along with a three-light stepped lancet window on the west gable that includes hoodmoulds and label stops.

On the southeast elevation, there are five bays, with a gabled and finialled entrance porch located in the second bay from the left. This porch has a window and a shouldered-arch doorcase on its left return. The west gable features a three-light stepped lancet window and the bellcote. The east gable includes a small single-storey gabled outshot with a window. The northeast elevation has five windows. The interior has not been seen. The property is enclosed by rubble boundary walls.
