Description
Fernbank is a two-storey, asymmetrical Gothic villa dated 1871. It is built of stugged ashlar with polished dressings and rusticated quoins. The southeast entrance front features a projecting central porch with engaged shafts that support a gabled head. Within the porch is a pointed arched doorway with moulded reveals, approached by steps. The right bay has two pointed-headed lights grouped under a pointed arch, with two smaller pointed lights in the wallhead gable. A blind bay is on the left, and to the right is a corbelled turret with a conical roof covered in fish-scale slates. A projecting, single-storey, semi-circular angle window is situated on the left side, featuring pointed lights, with a similar arrangement of lights on a canted, gabled face above. The southwest elevation also exhibits similarly treated windows, as does a shouldered wallhead stack. The building has deeply projecting eaves and a slate roof.
