Description
Maulside Mains is an early 19th century rectangular-plan stable block featuring a 'U'-plan courtyard. The building is constructed of painted rubble with margins. The south elevation is a single storey with five symmetrical bays. The central bay is advanced and pedimented, adorned with urn finials and a segmental-headed pend. The outer bays are also advanced, with windows set in recessed, segmental-headed panels. A cornice and blocking course complete the design. The 'U'-plan courtyard includes a central single storey house with a later raised attic, which has three broad bays and a modern central porch, along with three gabled dormers and end and ridge stacks. The left wing features two segmental-headed carriage entrances, while the pend leads to the right wing. The roofs throughout are covered with slate.
