Description
Monkcastle House is a late Georgian mansion dating to circa 1838. It is a rectangular, box-like structure with two storeys and a raised basement, set within a railed area. The house is built of ashlar stone. The principal facade features a symmetrical arrangement of 1-3-1 sash windows, with a slight recess in the centre. The doorway is distinguished by a painted stucco surround and coupled pilasters, leading up a flight of entrance steps. A flat modillioned cornice sits above, surmounted by a high raised parapet. A mansard attic storey, likely added at a later date, tops the building.
