Creed Lodge, Lews Castle, Stornoway, Lewis

Creed Lodge is a mid-19th century building, likely designed by Charles Wilson, serving as a lodge to Lews Castle. It features a gateway and a driveway bridge nearby. The lodge has been altered and has a flat roof, appearing less castellated than it may have originally been. It has a rectangular plan with two bays and one bay deep, with corbels at the fascia below the eaves that were probably once topped by crenellations, similar to those that remain over the taller turret on the west side facing the road. The flat-roofed circular turret at the southeast corner likely had a similar design. The structure is built of rubble with squared dressings, painted lintels, and modern glazing. The original main door on the narrow end wall facing the driveway has been converted into a window, and the existing porch on the east side is unlikely to be original.

The gateway features convex-curved low quadrants with stone terminal piers where the policies dyke meets. The quadrants are topped with spiked cast-iron railings, and the gates follow a similar design. The cast-iron gatepiers are polygonal in shape, hollow, and have castellated tops.

The bridge consists of a single segmental arch, constructed of rubble, and includes a crenellated rustic parapet. It features rock-faced squared stonework for the voussoirs and shallow-battered abutments.
