Description
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, built between 1825 and 1826 by William Robertson, is a Gothic-style cruciform church that features a later apse added to the east and a re-cast by Mackenzie and Matthews in 1852. In 1875, the porch, vestry to the southwest, and the nave were lengthened. The church is constructed of coursed rubble with polished ashlar dressings. The entire gable of the south transept, which faces North Street, is clad in polished ashlar and includes a slightly projecting porch, flanked by octagonal piers topped with conical pinnacles and stiff leaf finials. The semi-octagonal apse has plate tracery windows, some of which contain stained glass. The roof is made of slate. The low crenellated porch and vestry add to the church's character. Inside, the church has a simple layout with a flat ogee arch leading to the apse, plain seating featuring poppy-head finials, and oak choir stalls and pulpit.
