Description

Fochabers Bridge is a three-span bridge designed by Thomas Telford between 1801 and 1806, with repairs made after flood damage in 1831-1832 by George Burn as the contractor, and a reconstruction of the western arch in 1852 by Archibald Simpson. The bridge features two channelled ashlar arch rings, measuring 73 feet and 95 feet wide at the west. It has a widened deck and a modern metal balustrade. The bridge also includes tooled ashlar cutwaters and a blind oculus in the spandrel of the masonry sections.
