Description

3 Grant Street in Cullen is a pair of cottages built between 1820 and 1830. The cottages are single storey with an attic and feature a 5-bay frontage facing Grant Street, with No 3 extending 3 bays along South Deskford Street. The exterior is constructed of harled rubble with painted tooled ashlar margins. The entrances are located in bays 2 and 4, each featuring a 2-leaf panelled door beneath a delicately glazed rectangular fanlight. There are three windows on South Deskford Street, one of which is blind.

The cottages have a later 19th century gable dormer on Grant Street and a substantial canted dormer on South Deskford Street. The ground floor windows have 12-pane glazing, while the dormers have 4-pane glazing. The roof is made of piended Banffshire slate, with coped ridge and end stacks.

Additionally, No 1 Grant Street is connected to the entrance of Cullen House by a length of harled wall topped with cast-iron spearhead brattishing, which also screens the service area entrance.
