Description
Drummore House, located on York Place in Seatown, Cullen, is a two-storey house built between 1907 and 1909 in the English Arts and Crafts style. The building features an asymmetrical gabled design, with a ground floor made of bullfaced rubble and a first floor that is harled, complemented by tooled ashlar dressings. The south-facing front has three bays and includes a shallow jettied and bracketed first floor, along with a recessed arched entrance in the outer southwest bay, all beneath a continuous main roof. The ground floor has projecting canted windows on the south, east, and west elevations, while the first floor of the south front features a canted oriel window. The west elevation has two bays with first floor windows sheltered by shallow canopies. The windows throughout the house are single pane casements with multi-pane glazing in the upper sections. The roof is covered with red tiles and has brick ridge stacks.
Inside, the house has a simple interior with plain moulded ceiling cornices in three public rooms on the ground floor. The sitting room features an original chimneypiece set within a round-arched inglenook, with a wooden chimneypiece that has a cushioned lintel below the mantel-shelf, adorned with simple carved decoration. Similar chimneypieces can be found in two additional ground floor rooms, and the house has deep moulded skirting boards. The property is enclosed by high harled rubble walls that surround both the garden and the house.
