Description
Home Farm at Drummuir Castle is a substantial 2-storey Baronial farm building designed by architects William Smith and William Bruce in 1859. The structure is arranged in the form of a hollow square and features harled walls with tooled ashlar margins and dressings. The main elevations face southeast and southwest, showcasing a wide gabled design with nine bays. The center bay is slightly advanced and gabled, each bay includes a tall round-headed archway that leads to the inner courtyard. The southwest elevation has a pigeon loft with flight-holes above.
The building includes slightly advanced and gabled angle bays, along with a 2-storey angle drumtower at the south, which is lit by narrow stairlights and topped with a slated bellcast conical roof. Various loft openings are present under gablets at the wallhead. Most of the windows are now louvred, although some 2-light glazing remains in the drumtower. The design features crowstepped gables, ridge stacks, louvred cupolas, and slate roofs.
The interior is in poor condition, with a modern grain dryer installed in the northeast range.
