Description
Newhall House, built around 1705, is a traditional two-storey building with a garret that incorporates a vaulted first storey from an earlier castle. The exterior is harled, and it features a double-ridged roof that is slated.
Inside, there are original rooms such as the Advocate's Room and the Long Gallery, while other rooms were altered between 1785 and 1795. A 'Gothick' addition was made to the south during this same period, designed by the proprietor Robert Brown. This addition is made of ashlar and includes buttresses, pinnacles, and pointed windows. To the north, there are castellated additions designed by David Bryce, also in ashlar, featuring corbie-stepped gables and a tower.
