Description

47 Main Street in Pathhead is a later 18th century, one-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house that features a later enclosed porch. The exterior is constructed of random rubble with droved ashlar dressings and plain skews.

On the southwest elevation, there is a central enclosed timber porch with a moulded architraved window at the front and a boarded door on the right side. The house has overhanging eaves with decorative bargeboards and a slate roof, which includes a gutter leading to the main building's downpipe. The flanking walls have tooled rybats and a window. Above, there are three flush dormer windows, each with tooled rybats, panelled timber gableheads, plain bargeboards, and a finial on the central dormer.

The northwest elevation features a blind rubble gable and a coursed stone chimney stack with blocking and necking style copes, topped with a pair of inset plain terracotta pots.

On the northeast elevation, the ground floor is obscured by a lean-to rubble extension with a grey slate roof and blind returns. There are two hipped slated dormers on the upper storey.

The southeast elevation is adjacent to another cottage and has a coursed stone chimney stack with blocking and necking style copes, along with three plain terracotta pots.

The ground floor windows are 4-pane timber sash and case, while the first floor features 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is pantiled, with grey slate on the dormers and lead flashing. The front and rear have painted cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was used as a guest house, but it was not seen during the 2000 inspection.
