Description
112 High Street in Dalkeith is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey tenement building that features shops on the ground floor. The structure is constructed from ashlar stone and includes a cill course at the first floor, along with a moulded band course between the first and second floors. It has an eaves cornice and a blocking course that continues with the adjacent buildings at Nos 116-120 High Street.
The west elevation facing High Street has two modern shop fronts at ground level and a regular arrangement of windows on the first and second floors. There is a down-pipe channel located to the left.
On the east elevation, there is a window in the bay to the left on both the first and second floors, and a three-storey block made of rubble and ashlar with a piend roof is attached to the right.
The north elevation is adjoined to Nos 116-120 High Street, while the south elevation is connected to Nos 108 and 110 High Street.
The building features largely plate glass patterns in its sash and case windows, with two roof lights on the west pitch. It has coped skews and a mutual scroll skewputt from the neighbouring building, Nos 108 and 110 High Street, under the cornice to the right on the west side. There is a brick gablehead stack on the south side, while the stack on the north side has been removed. The roof is covered with grey slates.
