Description
Armadale House is a 2-storey, 3-bay house likely designed by David Bryce in 1845. The house is mostly harled, with tooled ashlar margins. The central bay, which features the main entrance facing south, is slightly advanced and gabled. The outer first-floor windows are set within small gables that barely break the wallhead, while the return elevations have single ground and first-floor windows. A single-storey and attic, 2-bay wing extends to the rear, with later additions present. The windows are fitted with lying pane glazing, and there are coped end stacks. The roofs are slate.
The property was purchased by the Countess of Sutherland in 1813 from William Honeyman of Graemsay (Orkney), who had inherited it from his mother.
