Description

This is a Free Church of Scotland building, constructed in 1845. A Minister's porch was added in 1881. It is a simple single-story building with five bays, featuring a projecting gabled porch in the centre of the south bay. The exterior is of rubble construction with tooled dressings. The porch at the west gable has a roof of Caithness slabs. The porch’s glazing is in an Art Nouveau style, dating from 1881. The roof is covered with West Highland slate. The walls are coped rubble. The building remains in ecclesiastical use. Strathy was described as a “populous rural hamlet” in 1858.
