Boundary Walls, Former United Free Church, Errogie

The Former United Free Church in Errogie was likely built in the early 1900s, following the formation of the United Free Church from the Free and United Presbyterian Churches in 1900. It has been disused since 1987. This church is a standard pattern prefabricated timber-framed and corrugated-iron clad structure made by Spiers & Co. of Glasgow, as indicated by the nameplate it bears. It is one of several such buildings transported to various locations throughout the Highlands in the late 19th to early 20th centuries, though few remain in largely intact condition.

The church has a rectangular plan and is set on a masonry plinth, with its entrance gable facing southeast towards the road. The site, along with the adjacent manse, is enclosed by harled rubble walls with rough-dressed curved coping stones, and features circular and domed gatepiers that are also harled. Notable architectural elements include a vestry wing that projects at the northeast corner, a timber belt course, door and window bands, and gablehead detailing. The windows are shallow-arched externally with top hoppers, and there is a 3-light window set high up, along with a polygonal gable-head window above the pulpit and an axial ventilator. A porch, likely intended as the minister's entrance since it faces the manse, abuts the vestry. The main entrance features a two-leaf door with decorative hinges. The church is finished with cream-painted cladding and timber painted green. The interior has v-lined walls and has been largely stripped of its original church furnishings as of 2004.
