Description
1-3 Traill Street in Thurso is a later 19th-century terrace of shops and dwellings, featuring three storeys and seven bays, facing southeast. The building has canted bays and entrances at each corner, positioned at a street junction. It is constructed from tooled course rubble, accented with contrasting ashlar dressings.
The original three-bay shop and entrances are located at No. 3 and Nos. 7-9, while No. 5 has a modern facade. The first floor features long hoodmoulded windows with aprons that are connected by a dropped cill band, and there are additional windows on the second floor. The angle bay is topped with a shaped gablet that rises to a coped apex stack, and there is a centre ridge coped stack. The roof is shallow and covered with slate.
