Roman Catholic Chapel, Arisaig

The Roman Catholic Chapel in Arisaig was designed by James Gillespie Graham and built between 1810 and 1811. It is a simple rectangular building featuring a central entrance on the three-bay south elevation. The chapel is constructed from roughly coursed rubble, with some painted tooled ashlar margins and dressings, and has a harled east gable.

There is a later lean-to porch at the center, which includes a round-headed recessed doorway with moulded architraves. The porch has blind side round-headed windows and simple buttresses. On either side of the porch are tall pointed-headed windows, also with moulded architraves and simple Y-tracery that includes lattice pane glazing. The east gable features a large intersecting Y-tracery window, and there is a small bellcote at the apex of the east gable, added in 1923. The chapel has flat skews and simple skewputts, topped with a slate roof.

Inside, the chapel has a simple interior that has been recast and oriented to the west. It includes fittings from the mid-1930s, such as a pulpit, communion table, and lectern.
