1 Mill Cottages, Mill Road, Portree, Skye

1 Mill Cottages on Mill Road in Portree, Skye, date back to the early 19th century. They are a single-storey, rectangular-plan pair of three-bay cottages that were originally built for mill workers. The exterior is made of rubble, harled, and painted, featuring three piended dormers.

The cottages predominantly have 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are coped end and ridge stacks, along with cast-iron rainwater goods.

Adjacent to the cottages is a former cloth manufacturing mill designed by James Gillespie Graham in 1804. This two-storey, L-plan, gabled building is situated on steeply sloping ground to the east. It is constructed of snecked rubble and has been remodelled internally to create residential accommodation, with some later openings added. The mill features timber windows and a grey slate roof.
