Description
Gairloch Parish Church is a small, rectangular church constructed between 1791 and 1792, with substantial recasting and additions carried out by A Maitland and Sons in 1908. The church is harled, with red, tooled sandstone dressings. The south elevation features four round-headed, symmetrical windows. Later additions include a hoodmoulded Gothic window in the centre of the west gable, a lean-to entrance porch with a pointed-headed recessed entrance and a small three-light window, and a 1908 west-facing bell-cote. The church has a slate roof. The plain interior is oriented eastwards. The building remains in ecclesiastical use. Records from 1792, 1836, and 1908 detail the church’s construction and subsequent alterations, alongside architectural documentation from 1957.
