W L Carruthers, 1900-1. English free style, ashlar. 3

storeys, attic and garret, 15-bay front to Queensgate, at

ground floor shopfronts, entrances to upper floors with

pilastered, keyblocked and pedimented doorpieces but

entrance to Queensgate Hotel pilastered with consoled

cornice, 1st floor windows architraved and corniced;

2nd floor windows architraved; pedimented dormers with

half timbering; 3 shaped and 2 pedimented gablets with

hexagonal garret openings flanked by stumpy columns. Canted

4-storey corner to Church Street. Church Street front 3 bays

with round arched windows at ground floor. Mansard roof.

Bracketted cornice.
