Byre, Steading, Urray Glebe, Old Urray, Urray

Steading Cottage, located at Urray Glebe in Old Urray, is a building that includes a large 18th century, two-storey crowstepped barn, a single-storey byre range at the northeast gable, and a single-storey cottage at the southwest, creating a shallow U-plan court.

The barn features large boulder footings and has a wide flat-headed entrance on the southeast (main) elevation, which is fitted with modern double sliding doors. To the left of this entrance, there is another doorway for a stable, equipped with a hand-made door handle. The first floor has four small square shuttered vents with plain chamfered architraves, located in the outer bays and serving the corn loft. The rear of the barn includes a doorway, a small stable window, two small attic vents, and two long blocked windows. The roof is constructed with pegged collar rafters and features crowsteps, cavetto skewputts, and a slate covering.

The cottage, dating from the earlier 19th century, is a single-storey building with an attic, comprising three bays. It has a central door that is obscured by a modern timber porch, two piended dormers, four-pane glazing, and end stacks.
