Description
The West Range at Mains of Tulloch, dated 1774, features repairs and alterations by Cameron & Burnett from 1900. This large farm square is primarily harled with painted ashlar margins.
The south range is 2-storey and has 13 bays, with a central arched entrance beneath a 2-stage square tower that includes a dovecot in the upper stage. The tower has margined and gabled sets of flight holes on the south, east, and west sides that rise through the wallhead. The roof is piended and covered with slate, topped with a weather vane.
To the east of the entrance is a 2-storey, 6-bay dwelling range, also harled with painted margins, featuring two doorways and small first-floor windows that likely served as a former granary. The west side, altered in 1900, consists of a 2-storey, 6-bay dwelling made of rubble with tooled margins, featuring a pedimented off-centre entrance, two large rectangular bay windows on the ground floor, and five first-floor windows raised through the wallhead into gabled dormers. The outer bays of the south range are advanced and piended. The windows have 2 and 4-pane glazing.
At the rear, there is a large square area with a 3-storey, 5-bay granary occupying half of the north side, which has a dated lintel for a cottage dwelling in the northeast corner. There is a second arched entrance on the west side leading to an additional yard and a range of arched cart sheds. The roofs are mainly slate, featuring ridge ball finials. The front range is enclosed by rubble garden walls with dressed copes.
