Description
2 Argyle Square in Wick is a semi-detached pair of townhouses designed by Thomas Telford around 1840. These two-storey, two-bay houses have a symmetrical rectangular plan and are located on a corner site. They are constructed from squared and tooled, long coursed Caithness stone slabs.
For No. 1, the northwest elevation facing Argyle Square features a door on the right side, while the northeast elevation facing Grant Street has a plate glass shop front at ground level. The roof is piended to the northwest and covered with grey slates.
In No. 2, the northwest elevation also has a door, but it is positioned on the left side. There is a modern gabled dormer on the right, and the roof is covered with concrete tiles.
The interiors were not seen in 2001. Both houses have plate glass sash and case windows, coped gable stacks with a string course, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
