Muirtown Cottage, Clachnaharry Road, Inverness

Muirtown Cottage is a Gothic-style house built around 1800 to 1820. It is two stories tall with a symmetrical three-bay design and features upper breaking eaves. A later addition is a central timber porch with multiple gables. The exterior is made of tooled, squared, and coursed red sandstone, accented with ashlar margins, and has harl pointing on the rear elevation. There is a base course, pointed arched windows with hoodmoulds on the ground floor, and gablet dormers. The center window on the first floor is blind. The cottage has replacement dormers and a single-storey addition at the rear. It is situated on ground that is lower than the street level.

The windows have multi-pane glazing with simple Y tracery in timber frames. The roof is piended and slated, featuring a central coped stack with octagonal cans.
