Description
25 Traill Street in Thurso is a later 19th century, two-storey and attic, symmetrical 16-bay terrace. The ground floor features shops, while the upper floors contain dwellings. The building has an ashlar frontage with polished ashlar dressings. There are 12 shop windows and 4 entrances, all featuring similar openings with moulded surrounds and panelled aprons beneath the windows. The first floor has 3-pane glazing and there are 6 canted dormers. The ends of the building have panelled end dies and a blocking course, which is raised at the centre and adorned with a roundel, all decorated with dog tooth moulding. The building also has corniced end and ridge stacks, and a slate roof.
Inside, there is a wide wooden staircase in numbers 33-35, featuring carved balusters. One of the first-floor rooms has plaster ceilings that incorporate the Prince of Wales' feathers in the design.
