Description
Lybster Farm Steading is a mid 19th century agricultural complex featuring a roughly square courtyard. The west and north sides are bordered by an L-plan steading, with the entrance located near the center of the south side. To the left of the entrance is a stable, while to the right is a single-storey, harled, three-bay cottage. The east side is closed off by another single-storey cottage and a length of rubble wall. The building is constructed of rubble with tooled rubble dressings.
The west front includes three segmental-headed cart bays on the right and a threshing barn served by a lade on the left. There are five louvred loft vents and a piended loft hoist door. The stable on the south side features three small catslide roof vents. Both cottages on the south and east sides are single-storey, three-bay structures with a central door. Additionally, there are two blocked segmental-headed sheep fold arches that open into the courtyard from the north range. The roofs throughout the complex are covered with graded Caithness slate.
