Description
Sleat Parish Church, located in Kilmore on the Isle of Skye, was designed by John Mackenzie from Isleornsay and built between 1876 and 1877. This plain rectangular church is oriented north to south and constructed from coursed rubble with a harled north gable and tooled dressings. The structure features five buttressed bays with lancet windows on the flanks, paired lancets on the south gable, and a central entrance. The north gable has triple lancets above it and an apex bellcote.
Inside, the church has a plain galleried layout, with three cast-iron columns supporting the gallery that feature some ornamentation. Additionally, there are two large monuments dedicated to Sir James MacDonald, who died in 1766, created by James Byres in 1768, which have been relocated from the old church.
