40 and 40A Millbrae Crescent in Glasgow is a two-storey terrace building, designed around 1877 in the style of Robert Turnbull, who was known for continuing "Thomsonesque" designs after the death of his partner, Alexander Thomson, in 1875. The terrace is stepped to follow the slope of the land and features outer gables. The first-floor windows are adorned with pilasters that rise from the window jambs, with anthemia set in recesses between them. The building is constructed from snecked and squared rubble with polished dressings and has been stone-cleaned. The doorcases are pilastered, and the windows are unmargined plate glass sashes. The eaves are deep and bracketed, and the chimney cans are designed in the style of Thomson. The roofs are covered with slate. There is a modern forestair on the south flank leading to the subdivided house at no. 40A.
